Where are my Miniature American Shepherd puppies raised?
At PreciousGem Miniature American Shepherds, my puppies are raised inside my home and around the entire family.
When my puppies are born, they are housed in my room in a safe and cozy whelping box. This is where mom spends most of her time with them as she nurses them and cleans up after them. During this time, the puppies experience ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) and ESI (Early Scent Introduction) with me.
As the pups grow and develop, they begin to open their eyes around 2 weeks old. At this time they begin exploring and are started on indoor potty training. As they develop they need more space and are transitioned to a safe play area and continued with indoor potty training and Puppy Culture activities that teach them to problem solve. They are introduced to at least one new object every day to explore and build confidence as pups. They also get to hang out in the kitchen where there is a lot of action going on with my family. In nice enough weather, they get to play in our fenced in backyard as well. I take pride in being able to raise my pups in a clean and hands-on way. I am very strict about visitors in order to keep diseases out.
