Why Choose A PreciousGem Pup? 💎
As the breeder behind PreciousGem, I work diligently to improve my dogs EVERY generation! This includes extensive genetic and breed related health testing (I am a vet tech so this is very important to me). Beyond health testing, I aim to improve quality, temperament, structure, trainability, athleticism, and loyalty. All of my puppies are raised with Puppy Culture activities including ENS (early nuerological stimulation) and ESI (early scent introduction). They are potty box trained, introduced to crates, car rides, and introduced to novelty (new/unusual) objects and new people as much as healthy while young. They are whelped, raised, and loved in my home - not in an outdoor kennel or barn. Around 8 weeks they have structural evaluations and temperament evaluations so I can make better decisions for my program and for my puppy families.
My dogs and my pups are my passion and my entire world! 💙

Thanks for visiting!
I am a small hobby breeder located near Salt Lake City, Utah and travel to surrounding AKC, UKC, and IABCA shows as well as some sporting events. I am involved in this breed because of my love for Mini American Shepherds (formerly ASDR Mini Aussies) and my aspiration to improve this newly recognized breed. Here are a few of my program's goals that I will continue to work toward:
-Improving Temperament
-Genetically Healthy
-Sound Structure/ Conformation
-Intelligent, Attentive, Biddable
-Versatile
-Show Prospects for my program
-Performance Prospects
-Loyal Family Companions
I am passionate about versatility. My goal is to have dogs who are successful in the show ring as well as sports outside the ring. This breed can excel in many performance events such as obedience, agility, rally, lure coursing, herding, dock diving and more!
Health Testing:
All of my breeding dogs are tested for a breed specific genetic health markers such as CEA, PRA, MDR1, HC, DM, CD, HUU, CDDY to name a few. OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) testing includes Hips, Elbows, Patellas, Cardiac, and Dentition. Breeding dogs will be given an Eye CAER Exam and cleared yearly by an ophthalmologist as well. Puppies will have eye exams done before going to their new homes. I take pride in the extent to which I make sure the parents are healthy before breeding.
Please be very attentive when looking into breeders. Genetic and OFA testing is SO SO SO important! Do not settle for a pup that has non-tested parents! It may cost you the money you save up front in vet bills later. I also recommended to look for breeders who are taking their dogs into the show ring and/or competing in sports and obtaining titles to prove their dogs. They are ultimately striving to better the breed and improve.
