Thanks for visiting! I am in the early stages of pursuing a passion for AKC Miniature American Shepherds (Formerly ASDR Mini Aussies)!
I am a small hobby breeder located near Salt Lake City, Utah and travel to surrounding AKC, UKC, and IABCA shows. I am involved in this breed because of my love for Mini Americans and my aspiration to improve this newly recognized breed. Here are a few of my program's goals that I will continue to work toward:
-Genetically Healthy
-Sound Structure/ Conformation
-Intelligent, Attentive, Biddable
-Correct Temperament
-Versatile
-Loyal Family Companions
-Show Prospects for my program
-Performance Prospects
This breed can excel in many performance events such as obedience, agility, rally, lure coursing, herding, dock diving and more!
Please be very attentive when looking into breeders. Genetic and OFA testing is SO SO SO important! Do not settle for a pup that has non-tested parents! It may cost you the money you save up front in vet bills later. It is also recommended to look for breeders who are taking their dogs into the show ring and obtaining titles. They are ultimately striving to better the breed instead of purely making money off of puppies because families aren’t aware of the difference of a responsible breeder. A dog that is structurally correct will out perform another dog and have less tendency to injure themselves.
All of my breeding dogs are tested for CEA (Collie Eye Anomoly), PRA (Progressive Retinal Agrophy), HC (Hereditary Cataracts), DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), MDR1 (MultiDrug Resistance Gene 1), CD (Cone Degeneration), and more prior to breeding!
OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) testing includes Hips, Elbows, Patellas, & Cardiac. Breeding dogs will be given an Eye CAER Exam and cleared yearly by an ophthalmologist as well. Puppies will have eye exams done before going to their new homes. I take pride in the extent to which I make sure the parents are healthy before breeding.
