Healthy Pet Nutrition!
I love love pet nutrition! What you feed your pet can really influence their health, both inside the body and outside. I love being able to help my puppies and other families and their pets with quality, healthy nutrition.
I have always had an interest in canine nutrition and have learned much in my journey as a veterinary technician since 2013. I even wrote papers and a presentation in college about quality pet nutrition. I have fed my own dogs various food brands in the past (6+ brands)... but when I came upon pawTree nutrition, I was very impressed with the high standards of quality and natural ingredients. I had the opportunity of meeting and talking with the CEO of the company. He has promised that pawTree will never compromise quality of ingredients. I switched by dogs over to pawTree food and supplements in 2019 and have been loving it! So excited that I joined pawTree in order to continue helping my puppy families and other pet families.
I would love to share more about what I feed my dogs and some of my very favorite, healthy, natural ingredient supplements! Please ask me any questions you have.

Quality Dog Food
My nutrition company believes in NOT sacrificing quality. We only use high quality, natural ingredients... even when competitors lower quality to lower their price. Otherwise, they are threatened by stores to be taken off shelves. Our CEO, Roger, experienced this over and over in the pet industry before he started pawTree. I had the opportunity to meet him back in 2019. All of my dogs have been on pawTree dry dog food and supplements since then and they LOVE it! We use their dry food for daily training and throw in pawTreat for high value reward training or just to spoil them! Another benefit of pawTree is the high density of nutrition. This means you feed less food than most brands. It is highly digestible!
My primary formula:
"Real Chicken & Brown Rice"
If they have a sensitive stomach, my choice is:
"Real Whitefish & Brown Rice"
I recommend foods that include healthy grains such as brown or white rice. I try to avoid "Grain Free" foods unless a dog truly has a sensitivity to grain ingredients. However, it is more common that a dog would be sensitive to a protein source such as chicken or beef if that is a concern. The primary reason I no longer feed grain free is a result of the ongoing food studies. Various laboratories are studying a correlation between grain free dog foods and a heart disease called dilated cardiomyopathy, or DCM. This heart disease is known to be genetic and more common in some breeds, but there are also finding a nutritional cause.
There may be a correlation between legumes, sweet potatoes, and other grain free ingredients that block the body from correctly absorbing the necessary amount of an amino acid called Taurine. If there is a deficiency in taurine, it may result in the heart disease, DCM. There are many reports of dogs switching to a better food and taking a taurine supplement in order to recover and do well going forward. Studies are still ongoing and not conclusive, but I prefer to be cautious! pawTree has added taurine to all of their food formulas, whether grain inclusive or grain free.
